Hello,
An update on the status of the Internet installation for “Center Sharon.”
The Select Board has been in rather constant contact with Eversource and Comcast/Xfinity. With Eversource, we have been in touch through the NH President for Eversource as well as their Customer Service representative. With Comcast/Xfinity, our contact is the Customer Service representative (who happens to live in Francestown).
At this point, Eversouce has done all the engineering work to determine which of their cables need to be moved on the poles to accommodate the Comcast/Xfinity cables. Bills have been submitted to Comcast/Xfinity for this work and all those bills have been paid.
We know from Eversource that the work to move the cables will begin soon, hopefully within a month or so. They expect to have that work completed by early spring.
As for Comcast/Xfinity, they have done all the engineering work for the installation of their cables. They can begin installation as soon as Eversource completes their work. They anticipate that it will take them about three months to complete that work, test everything, and begin offering service to residents.
We know that Comcast/Xfinity has sent a mailing to potential customers in Center Sharon. The mailing is to let you know that service is coming soon and giving you an opportunity to sign up. Other than doing what we can to make high speed Internet available to all residents, the town really has no role in the relationship between homeowners and Comcast/Xfinity. We can, however, answer questions and provide our personal thoughts.
We will continue to provide updates as we know new information.
