Selectmen’s Meeting

May 5, 2026

Present:    Jonathan Shomody, Chet Bowles, Joel Patterson

Call to order by Jonathon Shomody at 5:30 pm

Motion to approve the 4/212026 minutes (Bowles/Patterson).  All in favor, motion carried.

Signed the tax abatement warrant for Leslie Santiago.

Reviewed the 2025 Equalized Valuation received from the State of NH.  Copies have been forwarded to Avitar.

Discussion with Rory Goff about a plan to restore the Wilson II Fund.  Goff suggested speaking to the Town Counsel or Primex (the Town’s insurance carrier) to find out if this might be covered by the town bond (a suggestion by the Secretary of the State’s office).  The Town Administrator will contact Primex to ask if this might be covered and if it would affect future premiums.

Shomody:

  • Received a question from a resident about the status of high speed internet.  Bowles will follow up on this with Comcast.

Bowles:

  • The Selectmen’s Advisory Committee (SAC) met on 4/26/2026, the withdrawal process for Francestown is being worked out.  The withdrawal will not affect the 2026-2027 school year.  The new configuration will affect 2027-2028.
  • Has not contacted Chief Guinard about the Temple Road property yet.  This property may not have a functional septic system and may have people living in trailers on the property.  The complainant will attend the 5/52/2026 meeting.

Patterson:

  • Spoke about the email received regarding renovations at 81 Spring Hill Road.  His only question is whether the number of bedrooms will change, as this changes septic requirements.

Harris Construction update:  The Board received information from the court, the Judge has ruled that Harris qualifies for the exemption regarding a stationary manufacturing plant.  The town was copied on a letter from the DES stating that the DES has concerns regarding the alteration of terrain permit application (AoT).  This is the third request from the DES and Harris has 5 days to respond.

Motion to adjourn – Bowles/Patterson
