As you know from a previous message, the Sharon Select Board recently sent a letter to Mr. Coates, the President of Eversource NH imploring him to expedite work on the Comcast cabling and internet project in the center portions of Sharon. At the same time, we have been in touch with our Community Relations contacts at both Eversource and Comcast. We have also been in touch with various elected representatives. Here is the current status as we know it.
We learned yesterday that Eversource has now completed the survey work to determine what, if any, of their cables need to be moved in order for Comcast to do its work. Bills are being sent to Comcast to pay for that work, then Eversource can move the cables.
Our contact at Comcast tells us that two bills were received from Eversource yesterday and have already been submitted for payment. But, at this point, the ball is still in Eversource’s court. Once they receive the checks from Comcast, how quickly can they complete the work they need to do? It is only then that Comcast can actually begin the work of installing their cables.
We really do understand your frustration with the situation. We are in constant contact with both Eversource and Comcast to bring as much pressure as possible to get this work done. Bureaucracy does not move quickly.
